According to enterprise tocsin on April 18th, the Mississippi House of Representatives reviewed over 60 Senate bills this week, including a bill on e-cigarettes.
Senate Bill No. 2441 will prohibit the sale of any nicotine replacement products, such as e-cigarettes or aerosol products.
"The bill amending sections 97-32-51 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 prohibits anyone from distributing, selling, or providing any electronic cigarette, electronic device, or any powder, component, liquid, capsule, or powder used as a filler for electronic cigarettes or electronic additive devices that can be used to deliver ingested nicotine; an exception is provided for any such product if the manufacturer has submitted a pre market tobacco product application and the application is still under review by the US Food and Drug Administration."
The proposal proposes a revision to establish the Mississippi Tobacco Harm Reduction Act of 2024. However, some have suggested that the amendment is not related to the original bill. After correcting procedural issues, the bill was ultimately passed by 115 votes to 0 and has now been transferred to the judiciary.
