The ban on disposable e-cigarettes in France will take effect at the end of September 2024. The bill prohibits the manufacture, sale, or free provision of disposable electronic cigarettes, and violators will face a fine of 100000 euros.
According to Le Parisien on March 21st, the French parliament reached an agreement on Thursday (March 21st) to ban disposable e-cigarettes favored by young people. The ban is expected to take effect at the end of September 2024.
The bipartisan bill proposed by Congressman Francesca Pasquini was unanimously passed in the Senate as early as early February, and had already been passed in parliament in December. This Thursday (March 21st), a Joint Committee (CMP) composed of members of both houses reached a consensus. Subsequently, the government immediately announced its decision to notify the European Commission, which had six months to verify the legislation.
Health Secretary Catherine Vautrin expressed support for this bill, emphasizing the negative impact of the product on health, society, and the environment. The European Commission also stated in its decision that "the proposal to ban the sale of disposable e-cigarettes containing nicotine is reasonable, necessary, and in line with the goal of protecting public health."
