Starting from March 1st, Russia will implement comprehensive control over tobacco production and circulation

According to Russian media Finance, the Russian government has approved a national procedure to control the production and circulation of tobacco and nicotine containing products, which will come into effect on March 1st. The state's responsibility for monitoring tobacco production and circulation will be entrusted to the Russian Tobacco and Alcohol Regulatory Agency( Росалкогольтабакконтроль) Undertake.
It is reported that the bureau will closely monitor the operation of various tobacco production enterprises and actively combat the production and circulation of illegal tobacco. In addition, the Tobacco and Alcohol Administration will also monitor compliance with permits and necessary conditions during tobacco production, supply, procurement, and transportation processes. This new measure aims to regulate market operations and create a favorable environment for the stable development of Russia's economy.
Starting from March 1st, tobacco production in Russia must obtain a license. Starting from September 1, 2023, the electronic register of such permits has become effective.
