The UK Electronic Cigarette Industry Association (UKVIA) called on smokers, electronic cigarette users and the wider industry to join a national petition, urging the government not to ban disposable electronic cigarettes and essence.
According to UKVIA, the petition emphasizes the potential public health consequences of "excessive and counterproductive legislation," which reduces the effectiveness of e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool. The organization said that preventing the use of essence and disposable cigarettes could prevent adult smokers from switching from combustible cigarettes to other cigarettes.
UKVIA directly engages with its members, advocacy groups, and online communities to encourage consumers to commit to supporting petitions. UKVIA has also launched a large-scale social media campaign to maximize registration and share stories of smokers turning to e-cigarettes.
UKVIA Director General John Dunn said in a statement, "As part of ongoing government consultations, the prospect of strict restrictions or bans on the taste of disposable cigarettes or e-cigarettes may be the biggest health setback of this century, potentially undermining years of smoke-free progress."
Under no circumstances should these products fall into the hands of minors. Undoubtedly, it is crucial to prevent teenagers from coming into contact with e-cigarettes, but this cannot be achieved by sacrificing the potential of adult smokers to quit smoking. In government negotiations, the voice of e-cigarettes has been largely ignored, but they may become victims of any punitive measures. Therefore, we have initiated this petition for millions of people who have quit at once With the help of e-cigarettes and spices, adult e-cigarette users who quit smoking provide a platform - it is crucial that e-cigarette users across the country now unite to warn the government not to enact taboo and harmful legislation
This new petition is part of UKVIA's ongoing "Save e-cigarettes, Save Life" campaign, which also includes providing information to association members, encouraging and mobilizing e-cigarette users to respond to government youth e-cigarette consultations.
